Hi Ingredient Gal community, welcome to my blog! I’m grateful you are reading this because that means that you care enough about your own health journey to seek guidance not only from my learnings, but from the holistic health community. My name is Nikki, and I’m creating a space here to help others become healthier, feel better in mind, body, and spirit, and lead a more balanced and fulfilling life.
This blog is a labor of love, born out of my deep-seated passion for health and wellness. I want you to know why I am here and why I have taken this path. Through my education and personal experiences, I’ve come to realize the impact that diet, exercise, supplementation, and a non-toxic lifestyle can have on our overall well-being. I am here to share that knowledge with you, to support you in making informed choices, and to empower you to take control of your health.
Transparency and Integrity
In a world where the wellness industry is expanding rapidly, it’s easy to become skeptical of motivations behind health advice and product recommendations. I want to be completely transparent with you about my intentions and my approach.
I do not share affiliate links to make money. My primary goal is to educate and empower you to live a healthier life. If I recommend a product or a service, it’s because I genuinely believe in its value and the mission of the company behind it. I only endorse products that align with my principles of clean, non-toxic living and overall wellness. There are a lot of people who signup for any affiliate or referral service that can earn them the most commissions but lack the care, understanding, or may not even support the product they endorse. I want you to know that that is not my purpose here. I am banking on the emotional and mental reward, not a monetary reward. Any discounts I provide are meant to help you access high-quality products without breaking the bank.
The Foundation of My Passion
My journey into the world of health and wellness began several years ago when I faced my own health challenges. Like many, I found myself overwhelmed by the conflicting information out there about what it means to be healthy and was only finding doctors who wanted to immediately put me on medications. Determined to find answers, I embarked on a journey of education and self-discovery.
Before dedicating myself fully to this path, I spent 12 years working in a very high-pressure corporate environment. This experience gave me a true understanding of how hard it can be to live a balanced life and take care of oneself. I know firsthand how easy it is to put yourself last and turn a blind eye to issues that do not pose an immediate threat. However, neglecting health and wellness can lead to a slow decline or create discomfort in various areas of the body before disease actually forms. I believe that given enough time, changes to lifestyle and diet can prevent most diseases.
A pivotal moment in my journey was when I became my father’s caretaker as he went through treatment for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Seeing the challenges he faced and reflecting on his life choices that might have contributed to his illness deeply impacted me. This experience motivated me to become curious about nutrition, stress management, glucose management, mental health, every day toxin exposures, and work-life balance. It underscored the importance of proactive personal care to prevent disease and promote overall wellness.
I immersed myself in the study of nutrition, fitness, and holistic health which led me to discovering what changes I needed to make in my own life. I learned about the importance of whole, clean foods, supplementation when needed, regular physical activity, and the critical role that mental and emotional well-being play in our overall health. Through this process, I not only transformed my own life but also developed a burning desire to help others do the same.
I completed my education at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in January 2025 and am now a Certified Integrative Health Coach. This program enhanced my understanding of holistic health and equipping me with the skills to guide others on their wellness journeys effectively.
Holistic Health: Mind, Body, and Spirit
Health is not just about the absence of illness; it’s about thriving in every aspect of our lives. True wellness encompasses the physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of our being. Here on my blog, I aim to address all these facets, providing you with comprehensive guidance to achieve a balanced and vibrant life. People typically wait until the body begins showing warning signs of a problem before making a change. I want to help guide you down a path of prevention, but if you already have warning signs (e.g. High or low blood pressure, high or low blood sugar, inflammation, gut issues, acne), I also want to help you!
A few areas that you can expect me to cover include:
Diet:
Our bodies are incredibly resilient, but they need the right fuel to function optimally. I believe in the power of a nutrient-dense, whole-food diet, and that food can heal! I’ll share tips to help you nourish your body with clean, healthy foods that support your well-being.
Exercise:
Regular physical activity is essential for maintaining a healthy body and mind. I’ll help you explore workout routines, exercise tips and ideas, and motivation to stay active and enjoy the benefits of physical fitness.
Supplementation:
While a balanced diet is crucial, sometimes our bodies need a little extra support when our minerals are low. I’ll guide you through the world of supplements, helping you understand which ones are beneficial and how to incorporate them into your routine safely.
Non-Toxic Living:
Many people are unaware of the toxins present in their environment that can adversely affect their health. From household cleaners to personal care products, I’ll help you identify and eliminate these hidden dangers, creating a healthier living space for you and your family.
Mental and Spiritual Well-being:
Our mental and emotional health is just as important as our physical health. I’ll share techniques for stress management, mindfulness practices, and ways to nurture your spirit, ensuring a holistic approach to wellness.
Empowering Your Own Health Journey
My hope is that through my recommendations and information, you will take action in your own life and see the benefits for yourself. I truly want you to feel that you have control over your own life before any need for conventional medicine. But I also support any need to include conventional medicine. The perfect blend is when conventional medicine and holistic medicine align.
I believe that there is a time and a place for conventional medicine. I will not knock on any medical profession as I truly feel that there is a need for both conventional and holistic approaches. Look, conventional medicine saved my father from a deadly disease that would have taken him 10 years ago without modern medicine, specifically CAR-T. Science is really cool (yes, nerd here)! What I’m just afraid of is how quickly conventional doctors prescribe drugs before exploring other holistic approaches that could prevent medication. And that is no fault to doctors. They are taught to approach health/medicine from one lens. I, personally, have a healthy mix of both conventional doctors and functional/holistic doctors in my life so I believe we can live in a world with both.
I’m seeing firsthand with my mother and other family members who have just been fed medications without other guidance. And now, the amount of prescription drugs that they have to be on is more than you can count on two hands without a plan to get off any of them. I am well-aware that a lot of people need help through medication, I am only saying that I believe you deserve all forms of data before making the decision on what is best for you. I’m learning that most people just do what a doctor says simply because he/she is wearing a white coat and the patient does not feel empowered enough to have a say in their own health. And if after trying lifestyle and/or diet changes, you still need the medication, at least you were informed of alternatives. I’ll give you an example, I have a family member on two different antidepressant medications, but this person also never goes outside, exercises or spends time doing things that brings him joy. A few changes in his lifestyle could help him without the need of prescriptions. Since we’re on this, I’ll give you another example. My husband was having major health concerns about a year ago. We saw many doctors regarding his bizarre change in health which led him to undergo lots of tests. We ended up sitting across from a doctor who spent less than 10 minutes with us, said his scans looked fine, only looked up from his iPad for about 30 seconds and then sent us home with two prescriptions and no help beyond that. We were lost and felt betrayed by the medical industry. I’ll leave you with one more example. Again, my husband was having some awful acid reflux several years ago (barely 30 years old at the time). He saw a doctor several times about it and received no advice on how to reduce the stomach acid through diet or other modifications, rather he sent him home with an antacid which he took for about 2 years, every single day. Years later, that exact antacid was all over the news with lawsuits due to patients developing cancer. You can find that article here.
I’m sure just like my family members and my husband, there are millions of others in similar situations. Does this sound right to you? Does this sound like the care that you deserve and need ? I believe through proper modifications in your diet, environment and lifestyle, and time you can control symptoms, heal yourself and prevent greater health issues before it gets bad enough to involve conventional medicine.
Knowledge is power, and my aim is to equip you with the information and tools you need to make informed decisions about your health, and at the very least, provide you with a higher quality of life. I plan to support you with educational articles, product reviews, guides and other resources, and community support. But obviously, always run any changes by your doctor.
Everyone’s journey to wellness is unique and has bio-individual needs. What works for one person may not work for another, and that’s okay. My goal is to provide you with a variety of tools and strategies so you can find what resonates with you and fits into your lifestyle.
I encourage you to listen to your body, trust your intuition, and be patient with yourself. Health is not a destination but a continuous journey of growth and self-discovery. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small, and remember that every step you take towards better health is a victory.
